Hi all, hope I'm in the right place. I'm looking for plans to build a 30 watt (rms) solid state head for a practice amp. Any ideas?

I build a lot of stuff, do all my own home renovations, 95% of mechanical work on my vehicles, overhauled outboard motors, etc... However I think that you would be hard pressed to beat what is now available in electronics of any kind not just amps both in price and quality so I buy mine. But if your an electrical engineer or talented hobbyist and really know your stuff this might just be your thing and I should probably shut up.

Try to find something that can be powered by a large wall wart so you don't have to mess with mains wiring.

Ive heard building heads is not very cost effective. I think a nicer small combo might be a better route.
I can solder, but I can't design. And @ $2.50 per op-amp, the price goes down considerably. I built the little gem as practice, now want to move on to something bigger. I already have speakers.

You'll be able to bridge this into an 8Ω load for 30W. You might need a dual OP amp to do the inverting for one channel.

Check out the LM3886 for your power amp. It's fairly easy to work with and should do great in a 30 W bass amp. You should be able to look at the application notes for a power amp schematic.
Yeah, guys, I'm looking at opamps for both pre and power amps, but do not know how to match them, so looking for a full schematic. I can build, not design. Thanks for the help.
