34" scale verses 35" scale..???

So what's the big deal about a 35" scale over the standard 34" scale? I've been wanting to ask that question for a while now and since I'm thinking about building my own bass, I'd like to know the difference in the two scales....besides the obvious 1".

I always favored 35" over 34" for that really resonant B string tone, but a Sadowsky I played yesterday had a B strung as powerful as a Modulus or Cirrus. I was blown away!
