I have large-ish hands, so 35" + Fretless + me = A OK. The ability to lower your action further without buzz more than makes up for the added difficulty of intonation.
However, I'll have my cake and eat it too: my six-string fretless is a faux 36" scale. It has an extender after the bridge which basically gives it the same taughtness (and ridiculously low action) as a 36", but on a 34" scale neck.
