Double Bass 3d Printed XLR Holder

some months ago I went down to our local FabLab to print an XLR holder so that I can have my DPA 4099b jack on my tailpiece.

the design is not the best, so if any of you guys want to try it out or improve it, just keep this thread going


just remove the .mp3 part from the filename and you get the Autodesk Inventor design file and stl file you can print

Not sure what I'm looking at here. I see the DPA, the rubber string mount it comes with, and can see that the wire leads under the tailpiece. Where's the 3D printed part?

We'd love to see the connector and it's setup. DPA has made some great changes to the 4099. The original DPA 4099B was a "one size fits all" prototype, with a non replaceable cable, and no way to extend the gooseneck.
They resolved those issues with the 4099 Dvote. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, couldn't make it backwards compatible. So, those of us who were early adopters, essentially have a $600.00 disposable mic if the cord breaks.
You've addressed the final issue with the 4099, and I'd love to see how you did it. Sorry, for the rant.

My DPA scheme has been working very well for me with little fuss. I may update the coiled wire bundle with a shrink wrap sleeve for further protection.

No printablable parts neccessary and everything is super secure. Best part is that there is no extra weight on the TP so everything is free to vibrate fully save for the mic on the afterlengths.

Its there! just 3d printed in black. What I did was I made the holder replace the "neutrik" branding ring thats typically used for color coding. Those come off and you can replace them with different color rings. Attached to the A string. Heres a picture.

This was done to the original DPA 4099b. I was sick of the long cable, so I cut it and shortned it myself. The inner insulation was super difficult to strip. It just kept stretching and getting thinner and thinner but wouldn't cut. In the end I made it but two layers of heatshrink are definitely needed because the wire deep inside is actually super thin. Props for the cable quality.

I zip-tie my XLR to my tailpiece and throw the cable into my F-Holes and surprisingly it works just fine.
