Hey guys. So I rock a '70's bassman 100 through an acoustic 2x15. I love that cab to death, but it's a little big for my needs. I've been considering getting a cab for practice/gigs with PA support. 4 ohm options seem limited, and I'll be on a tight budget. I don't know how tight yet, as I'm still feeling out the market. I wouldn't consider anything over six hundred or so. Used will be by far preferred.
I need a bit of versatility; I'll be using it for a rock band (my acoustic 2x15 doesn't let me push the master on the fender above six or seven, and I've noticed it sounds quite nice when I crank it more), a raggae project I've been starting, and possibly also a cover band, doing classics. I currently have all my basses strung with flats.
Options I've been considering:
Avatar TB153: Would the 100 tube watts be enough for me to get by with this guy? I've been quite interested in these
GK 212 MBE: I've never seen anyone using Fender amps and GK cabs. Any thoughts on how it would do? It would be quite a hunt to find one used i think.
Ampeg 410HLF: I hear this one can get a little muddy. Probably easy to find used though. I would probably appreciate a flatter cab. Any other Ampeg options in 4 ohm that I should consider that aren't fridges?
Aguilar DB210/212: pricey, but look nice. I believe I read somewhere that Aguilar cabs tend to be a little scooped... that might be rough, as I value my mids.
I feel like I'm missing the magic cab that will fit my needs perfectly.
What do you guys think?
