Ive checked the forums at the risk of being repetitive. My next question is: Which is best to learn on, a 4 string or a 5 string?

4 string vs. 5 string

I started with 4 string, but moved on to 5 string after a few years. I think that's a good way to go so you can get used to the feel of the instrument first. Typically when people start learning they play closer to the head of the bass. As you learn to play in higher positions you'll find the 5 string more useful, but to start you'd probably be better off with a 4 string.

i urged my buddy to try both before buying to find which was more comfy. he ended up getting both, but his hands seem to like the 4 banger the most. gl.
