But sorry to hear that the original neck is a goner. If I were you, I'd get that new neck, copy the original hadstock (matches the body well) and use the vintage-looking modern tuners. I mean, if you like the tone, fix what's not working. Cheers.
Yeah, this is pretty much the direction I'm leaning. I agree the original headstock does match the neck well.

This project is well under way!
