I only just got time to restring the bass tonight, it appears the tension is too low even though the bass is tuned standard BEADG and 50 - 130. Is this just what new strings do? I am also now gaining high up fret buzz, only on the D string. My bass does not seem to have an adjustable truss rod, which is very confusing to me. Any ideas?
What strings did you buy? Sounds like they might just be a low tension string, which in turn would cause upper fret buzz because they allow the neck to backbow more than your previous strings.
^Agreed. If the new strings are a different tension than the old ones, a new setup is in order. Let the bass sit for a few hours with the new strings on it before you make any adjustments. Let the neck adjust to the strings, then you'll know how much work need to be done.
Oh, and your bass has to have a truss rod adjustment. I can't find a picture of the Cort B-5 large enough to tell, but your truss rod access should be under a plastic plate on the headstock that's just above the nut.
