I've tried high B as well, but I find C more useful. Guitar tuning is a different issue as it facilitates cording.
As for neck width, my first 5 was an extremely narrow Ibanez. I got my current 5 after several years playing double bass, so I was used to a bulkier neck by then.
For me (and like the OP) most difficulties I have with using 5s have to do with the right hand, not the left. That, along with the fact that I don't really like playing in the lowest registers too much, has lead me to go without the low B.
