5 String recommendations

Not sure anybody have suggested it but the new yamaha trbx 505 looks dope.

Nice low output humbuckers, nice looking bridge, three band active preamp. Passive active switch. neck looks neither super slim or wide. If you got more Cash to spend and want a more classic passive bass the yamaha bb1025 looks nice. wider neck for slap...

Warwick streamer or convette 5 strings are nice and the ibanez sr 505 is a lot of quality bass for the price

LOL, so, I already know you guys are gonna hate this, but, im a huge Korn fan, have been for a VERY long time (since my angst teen days 17 years ago) and just saw the K5 Fieldy signature bass. while I am not at all naive about his playing versus most other bass players, this bass has to be decent right?

I can't afford that.

So, as of now im still stick on SUB or SR305E. I play mostly metal, stoner and Doom type stuff. what is better suited for that? I don't play slap, i play finger style, but will be messing with a pick for a project as well.

O. That's a different story altogether. A SUB is great for that type of stuff. Whatever you do though, DON'T ask the guys on TB what is the best bass for metal. That'll get out of hand in no time.

Oh you just solidified my recommendation on the BB. I played the hell out of a BB415 in a stoner/doom band for a few years and went through several contenders but could not find a better match for the band. It has the classic P sound but with more oomph and low end, but the PJ pickups blended are just something else. PURFICK.

Stoner/doom tends to be more classic bass sounds. I will say though that if you want more modern metal tones, go for a Jazz or anything with twin humbuckers, steel strings and a Darkglass B7K.

I agree. For Ibanez I'd suggest SR505 and up, but I haven't tried the new coil tap ibbies yet. The older ones were ok, but not my fav. But Squier 5s don't do it for me at all.

Anyway, in its price class the SUB is the best 5 string I've personally found.
