5 to 4 String

I have a 5 string bass, and I like it. It's a Cort. I want a 4 string, but I don't really want to buy one. If I just changed the nut and restrung it, could I have myself a 4 string?

What are some pros and cons of this?

My guess is that you would get a huge stringspacing.. and one tuner not in use, plus youd need to change the bridge..

So much will go wrong. Don't attempt it. Wide string spacing, need for a new bridge, possibly new pickups since the poles will be out of place.

you could just take the 5th string off for a while and play it like that...

when i decide switch my 5 strings to 4 i sell my 5 strings for buy my 4,this is the correct process.

Why do you want a four string? Don't use the B? String with a high C.

If not, just take off the B string and play like a four.
