50s Pbass pickup. Pre CBS?

Hello,

I am new here. I have been lurking for like 10 years though. I recently acquired a pickup for my 56 PBass and was wondering if you thought it was authentic and it had been rewound. It looks really old to me. It registered a little over 8 on resistance. Thanks for the help in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

If 1950s, that would certainly mean pre-CBS. Goes without saying.
Thank you for the reply. All the 50s would be precbs, I hear you. I was also wondering if appeared authentic precbs and not from a reproduction or anything. Due to how old it looks I think it is precbs, but was just wondering what everyone else thought.
Thanks again!

"8" what? pounds? gallons? fathoms?

sorry, couldn't resist :p

anyway it's gonna be hard to really tell, that could be anything from vintage fender to any number of modern reissues; in fact, the perfectly flat bobbins make me suspect it's newer, i would expect to see a little flaring out at the ends from a true 70-year old fender single coil
