50s Pbass pickup. Pre CBS?

Hello,

I am new here. I have been lurking for like 10 years though. I recently acquired a pickup for my 56 PBass and was wondering if you thought it was authentic and it had been rewound. It looks really old to me. It registered a little over 8 on resistance. Thanks for the help in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated

If 1950s, that would certainly mean pre-CBS. Goes without saying.

Thank you for the reply. All the 50s would be precbs, I hear you. I was also wondering if appeared authentic precbs and not from a reproduction or anything. Due to how old it looks I think it is precbs, but was just wondering what everyone else thought.

anyway it's gonna be hard to really tell, that could be anything from vintage fender to any number of modern reissues; in fact, the perfectly flat bobbins make me suspect it's newer, i would expect to see a little flaring out at the ends from a true 70-year old fender single coil
