Hey guys, I recently tried out a squier classic vibe 50's p bass and I love it but I feel that its sound won't fit in with my band, I know the 50's style single coil pick up is going to give a vintage style sound but are there any replacement pick ups avalible that would make it fit in more so with my band which is a metal/hardcore band

50's style P bass for metal/hardcore

Rather than change the pickup you could buy an outboard preamp/eq/effects box that can tailor the sound of the bass to your band. If you change bands you can change your sound as well.

Rick's right, to a point. More people should try to use EQ before jumping straight to replacing pickups.
The one thing EQ can't do, though, is get rid of single coil hum. Particularly if you're using a lot of gain.
Several manufacturers make stacked single coil replacements for early-50's style P basses. Start with the usual suspects. I think you could probably use a dual-rail-type strat humbucker as well.

just grow out of playing metal, and get it out of the way now, so you can start playing what you will play in the future instead.

Hahaha^. Funny, I usually hear non pentatonic intervals like minor 2nds and Minor 6ths in metal/hardcore. Pentatonic scales played through distortion is kind of what those no name bands Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix did. Metal may sound worse to you than nails on a chalkboard but don't denigrate the skill needed to play it well.

No it really doesn't. It still sounds like a P Bass, and what you string it with matters more.
But if the single coil hum becoms bothersome, then you can get hum-cancelling pickups.

This is an ignorant closed minded individual right here. I wouldn't listen to his advise about anything at all. I'm 41 and play in a hardcore / metal band.
As the other guys said above try a pedal for EQing your sound. Check out the Sansamp bass driver. It's what I use and ALWAYS get compliments on my sound. I believe I tweaked the SVT Classic setting that is in the manual.
I agree with the poster who said single coil hum could be a problem. I ordinarily don't favor pickup swaps, but in this case it might be a good idea. A split coil (60s style) P would be a better choice, though.
