'51 Precision Bass with 2 pickups?

I've seen a pic of a Fender Custom Shop '51 P Bass with a bridge pickup, master built by Mark Kendrick.

Pretty damn cool looking, especially with the matching headstock!

YO! That is one rawkin bass. Wish I could unsee it so I won't be thinking about recreating it someday and use my (limited) brainpower for more important things...

My fretted 5 2003 Benavente 51P has 2 pickups. I wanted the pickups to match so I had Chris route for and make wood covers... they are Dimarzio Ultras underneath the wood.

(I wanted just a dual coil in the P spot for the fretless)

try adding a mudbucker? pole pieces line up perfectly and sounds good and not muddy at all. billy sheehan did that on a '57 if im not mistaken. totally diff bass but same concept.

Nordy 3-band
Active/Passive with always on passive tone control.

You're right. It's not exactly a Tele, nor a '51 body but the Bullets had somewhat of a slab body(slightly rounded edges with no contours) and a Tele style headstock. It's also got dual SCPB pickups, tough to see from the photo.

sub'd because it gave me an idea with my squier tele. Been dying to mod it. What would happen if I get a couple more scpb, put one back to back with the factory one, and one in the bridge position. I could use the tone switch as blend, keep the two pots, and add a tiny toggle to switch the front pickup from h/b to s/c., or would that not be worth it?...

A buddy of mine did the pickguard for me. He knows nothing about guitars or basses whatsoever so I gave him a paper template to work with and showed him an actual P-bass pickguard so he knew what he was making. I left the rest up to him(he's an old school guy), I just told him the bass was going to be rough looking and that I wanted him to take his time, have fun and do what he wanted, he ended-up using aluminum from a decommissioned traffic sign.
