I recently bought a Fender '51 Precision Reissue bass, which is equipped with a 2-piece bridge. As most bassists understand, this allows you to either get 2 strings intonated, with the other 2 "close", or to get all 4 "close."

I had read that the Fender American Deluxe 4-string bridge was a direct replacement. It offers 4 saddles, and string-through or bridge mounted strings. The 51 P doesn't allow for bridge mount.

I found a new bridge for about $65, including shipping, and spent about half an hour installing it this morning. Naturally, I kept the original....

To keep the story short, the bridge was a perfect fit. I'm off to rehearsal (with another bass) so I don't have time to intonate it, but I'm quite pleased with it. It isn't as substantial as the bridge on my G&L Tribute (what is?) but it's more robust than my other P's bridge.
