5ths tuned Guild Jumbo Junior ABG - feasible?

I got a Guild Jumbo Junior ABG recently, it's a lot of fun. Have any of you tried and/or succeeded to set up something like this to play in 5ths - C G D A instead of E A D G? If so what strings did you use? I'm not expecting much acoustic volume from the C string, if it works at all - but then, few expected the Ashbory bass :)

Haven't tried, myself...yet have some suggestions (don't mind it, it's a whole thing, I will do that a couple times a day) :

- Magma GCT-Cello set minus the top two strings, or
- custom set of D'Addario singles (Invalid Link Removed - Invalid Link Removed - Invalid Link Removed - Invalid Link Removed).

[Actual cello strings might work too, provided they have either synthetic or stranded, rope cores. Strings with solid steel cores are stiff and will have bad intonation (play sharp) on acoustic basslets that come with nyloncores, because of bridge saddle placement.]

Also, I would like to page @Cal03 and @BarfanyShart, both of whom have experience with 5ths-tuned short-shorties.

For Cello tuning I have used the D and G from a bass set, along with the D and G from a guitar set, as a cheap and perfectly effective solution.

For a lower GDAE or FCGD tuning, you can use an E string for the low string. It sounds good, and acoustic volume on the low string isn't too bad, but you always risk breaking the string if you are repurposing a standard-scale string.

I have not yet gotten a low C to work on my 25" shorty. I may try again with this Aquila Thunderblack 5-string set, Thunderblack - 5 Strings - 59-66 cm / 23-26” | Aquila Corde Armoniche
I figure the low string can do the C, The high strings can handle the D and A fine - then it's just a matter of figuring out which of the two other strings works best for the G (by far, the most important string in CGDA bass tuning).

I'd appreciate it if anyone can give me a measurement for normal 12th fret action height of a 23-25" mini ABG with OE round wound nylon core strings, like a Guild or Taylor. I'm expecting high, but how high? Just want to check the used Guild I bought is within the normal range. Thanks, Max
