6 speakers - 4 ohms???

i am in the process of building out a 6 10 speaker cabinet. Question is how does ampeg and swr get the cabinet to be 4 ohms. i believe there is no such thing as a 24 ohm speaker so how do they accomplish such a thing. i can only figure out how to get to 5.67 or 2.67. any help would be greatly appreciated

Those cabs are probably actually 5.3 Ohms. 8 Ohm drivers in a series/parallel arrangement. They tell you it's 4 Ohms so you won't fry your amp.

Ampeg uses 6 ohm speakers in a series-parallel. I believe that Orange County Speaker sells these Ampeg OEM speakers.

The original Ampeg 8x10 had 32-ohm speakers. I don't know about the Ampeg 6x10, but the Bergantino NV610 has 24-ohm speakers.

This. Ampeg uses 5.3 ohm drivers, berg uses 24 ohm drivers.

Wire it to 5.67 ohms, and treat as though it's a 4 ohm cab. The wattage difference will result in an output difference so small it's insignificant.

Yeah, but that is about as close as you'll get without having speakers with non standard ohm ratings. I just figured they were fudging, ie rounding down

Use 4 x 4ohm, or 4 x16 BASS drivers for bass frequencies wired to 4 ohms.
Use 2x10 MID 8 ohm drivers for mid frequencies wired to 4 ohms
Use a crossover between the bass and mid frequency drivers - this will keep everything at 4 ohms overall.

Put the 2 MID's in vertical alignment, in their own chamber.
The 4 BASS drivers in an L-shape.

With careful matching of drivers you'll have one great sounding cabinet.

i have a madison cabinet simialr to this. 2 12's, 2 8's and a horn. sounds very full.

i am looking for this cab to push some serious air as my svt's used way back when.... but be a little more transportable. i have a matching 3 12 cab that i will load up next - probably 2 16 ohm speakers...

I've seen Genz Benz 24 ohm speakers on eBay from time to time.
