Hey gang, I've been enjoying my cheapo fretless 6-string and briefly toyed with upgrading it. But now I'm jonesin for a decent one. The Ibby SRF-706 seems to get a lot of love, and it looks pretty decent (and stands alone at its price point).

Things I like that it has:
  • unlined fingerboard
  • nice looking wood
  • neck-through
Things it has that I don't need (no deal breakers, just noting):
  • bridge piezo... maybe I'll like this? I've just never heard one that I loved
  • fingerboard binding... why? not a big deal, just... why?
Things I wish it had (also no deal breakers):
  • humbuckers with tap/series/parallel (has Bartolini MK-1 split coils, which are probably fine, just not as flexible as I'm used to with my L-2500)
  • preamp bypass switch
Things I wonder about:
  • balance... my current 6-string has enough neck dive to bug me. This one has a pretty small/light body (which I like), but I worry about all that neck and hardware hanging out there pulling it down
  • is there another brand/model I'm overlooking that would be a better fit for me? I don't see anything close in this price range.
Hoping the TB hive mind can help me sort this all out :woot:

I own a warwick corvette $$ 6 strings fretless, all of the things you want, but it's BO, not NT, it plays like a dream and has many sound possibilities: dual humbucker, series/parallel switches for each pickup, active/passive switch, ash body, wenge neck, tigerstripe ebony fretboard, if you search for a used one you're in the same price range

That does check my pickup/electronics boxes better, but I can't find one new or used, so...

That Ibanez looks like such a slam dunk for a 6 string fretless. I don't think you can go wrong.
That's kind of what I'm thinking... just don't want to overlook anything, and still concerned about balance.
