6 x 8 sound booth--what workstation/desk/table?

Hope you can help!

I have been asked to get furniture for a 6 x 8 sound booth. It will need to fit on the far end--the 6' end. Somehow I need to get an iMac, a midi controller (32" long keyboard style thing), a mouse and computer keyboard, a Scarlett 18i8, a webcam, two mics and all the cables for those items in that spot. I have some booms and suchlike that will allow me to position the mics, and mic boom that can attach to the desk.

I also need to get two height adjustable stools/chairs, suitable both for recording and for sitting at the desk working on Logic or webcasting.

$1000 to spend.

Any suggestions? I could get a strong 60" height adjustable table and screw a keyboard drawer underneath it. I could get a less strong OnStage multi-level workstation. I could get some drafting chairs? Maybee?

That's a lot of stuff to cram into a 6x8 room. I used to work out of the back bedroom in my first house, which was 7x11 and I found that to be very difficult as soon as I had a performer in there to sing, play guitar, play keys, etc. Will it just be you working in the space (i.e. you'll be performing and engineering simultaneously), or will there be more than one person?

No more than two at a time. Usually one.

My only recommendation is to get it as shallow as possible. Wall mount your screen, use the smallest desk you can get away with, which will almost certainly not be a studio-specific model, push your monitors all the way against the back wall (leave a small gap to where they’re not physically touching the wall). In a space that small the room will be your biggest challenge rather than what you put in it. Vertical orientation will be an asset. If you can get the keyboard below the MIDI controller and the screen above all of it you’ll save a ton of room.
