60s jazz bass fret buzz.

Hello folks,

I bought a new bass! A Fender Classic 60's jazz bass.
It wasn't a completely new one, it had been standing in the store for 6 weeks. But before I bought it, I had it set up properly.

Now, after 3 days of playing, I noticed that I got a buzzing sound when playing the open D string.

It only occurs if I play it a bit harder than usual, and let it ring for more than 0.75 seconds

Now my question is: should I worry about this? Should I get it fixed or should I just keep in mind to play that open D softer, and just let it be?

I mean, this will be my bass for the next 3 years.

Well, the same would happen to me with a G&L L-2000 Tribute, but I loosened up the nut by a little and that made the buzz a lot less noticeable.

The best answer here is you know how much buzz is interruptive to your playing. For me, the smallest amount is. Id get it taken care of; especislly when a simple setup may be the answer.

open D string you say?

the nut slot on the D string needs to be raised slightly.

you can DIY by putting some super glue in it cleanly and let it dry.
shave off the excess
