64 Audio A4s?

I previously owned the earlier model - the Qi’s - but upgraded to the A8’s a few yrs ago. Loved both. A8’s have been replaced with the N8’s now.
The APEX modules make long-term use very easy and mostly remove any ear fatigue.
I often leave mine in between sets as the APEX (sort of) act like ambient ports when no music is playing and I can hear conversations both on and off stage. It's amazing how LOUD the music in the venue can be when you remove the IEM's.
I keep my IEM volumes pretty low.

My first customs were Alclair Tours (3 Driver) set. Now I'm using the 64 Audio A12t's. I still bring my Tours with me as a backup, but between the both of them, the 3 driver Alclair Tours were fine for on stage. Where the A12t shines is music/movie/gaming listening at home. If my Tours are fine on stage, the A4s would be perfect. The APEX module is worth it... if you are going with 64 Audio. Also, It seems like I get a better fit with 64 Audio 3Dfit technology than my Alclairs. It feel like it snaps in my ear when I twist them on... so I have a good seal.

I was going to add to MY post above that the OP should wait for a Fractal "Black Friday" and save some moolah!
They often do them at unpredictable times such as Halloween, but they usually have one at Thanksgiving - if one can wait that long.

Yes... wait for the Black Friday sales... I saved a lot, so I added an IEM Vac to my order. I should add, the large meshed port that 64 Audio does on their customs is a game changer for me. Easy to clean and maintain... no ear wax can get through the mesh. I've had to send my Alclairs a few times for deep cleaning... which an IEM vac couldn't clear out. As much as like my Tours, I wish it had the mesh ports like 64 Audio customs.

Gonna be watching this one, @Bassguy87 thanks for starting this thread!

I've been searching for comparisons of both of the these for the last couple of weeks myself (UE11 pro/ 64 Audio A4s). My Mackie MP-240s work well enough onstage for me to hear what I need to hear (click/tracks/vox/me) but I can't find a really solid seal with any tips - i've tried plenty of different sizes. It's good enough to get by for now, but I can feel them slip a little after things get hot and sweaty. They'll move around and the sound changes or drops out momentarily. The UE11's were recommended to me by another touring reggae bassist (he only does IEM gigs) and my guitarist who uses them as well. I would be using them for metal/rock mainly but my reggae band will eventually move to IEM so I need something that will work for both genres.

I just dont know if I even really need more than 3 drivers, ambient ports, bells and whistles, etc.. I know what I need to hear onstage but i don't know how to translate that over to choosing a specfic custom brand/model.

I'm using the 64 Audio model below. A3E ? A3T? I forget. i got them as they were kinda the most balanced ( on the 64 Audio chart) of the lower end IEM. Honestly.. I love 'em. If my IEM based gig takes off, I'll try whatever @s0c9 and @Geri O are happy with. Our needs/ demands see to track pretty well.. For the time being, the A3's driven from Shure PSM300 are working very well for me.

I used an Audiologist in Vancouver, WA that was recommended by 64 Audio. She didn't use a bite block or have me position my mouth open. She did ask if I sang to which I said yes, a lot. She also mentioned that I was her 10th 64A customer - of the week... Apparently she get's how to do this...

Interesting on the bite block.
The audiologist who did BOTH sets of impressions for both sets of my 64Audio IEM's (Qi's/A8's) USED a bite block and did impressions for a local mega-church (Gateway - yes, the one recently in the news) who were also 64Audio artists. Yes, I sing.
Both fit perfectly - first time - and I still take the Qi's as backups..

That is interesting... The audiologist did my impressions for both my Alclair and 64 Audio customs. She had me use a bite block both times. She is also on the 64 Audio recommended list on their site... and she works at the 64 Audio booth at Anaheim NAMM every year doing impressions for customers. Both fit perfect, but the fitment feels tighter with my A12t's.

Right. I was replying to @4Mal ’s post about getting his impressions done WITHOUT a bite block.

Last night I did a minor experiment... Different goofy smiles and grimaces while playing. I can break the seal if I try. When I stop contorting, it comes back. My singing style has fairly low jaw movement. I'm not a yeller... I'm most definatley a lower volume singer. My Audix VX-5 hh condenser is like you know, my best buddy on stage :-) and I'm right up and personal with it... any closer and we'd need a certificate for gig's in some places :-)

Singing style may have a part in this whole discussion...
