6er advice

Hey just thought id put up a quick post to ask if anyone has any recomendations for a cheap 6 string.

Im just looking for a list of basses to try and source so i can try them out and make my own final decision etc. Unfortunetly the guitar market in Ireland isnt very strong so its not easy to just go into a guitar shop and try one out.

Anyway if you know any good 6ers preferably under €450 but i can go up to €650 if needs be. I know its kind of a stiff order to fill. Thanks anyway

I recommend Brice basses from Rondo, I got one for that same reason, I wanted to know If I would like playing a ix string. And I do, so I am selling my 5 string to get a better 6 string and keep this one as a backup. They are good basses for the money,

I got one of these a while back, and really like it, very nice tone, really tight string spacing though.

I had a Brice; they're not bad. I also like Ibanez Soundgears.

Just to clear up,Brice are essentially sx's yeah, i have one of them somewhere. Nice basses,especially for the price. Might be sidetracking my own post here but does anyone know if you can get a cort curbow in a 6

There are Cort Curbow 6s- I think they're OOP but they pop up on the bay regularly.

Brice are SX's higher line, but come from the same factory as Shine, even have some models the same as each other.

Cort don't make a 6er Curbow, anymore, they used to, I was tring to get one recently, but no dice.

I'm not sure what the choices are in Ireland, but if you can find a Dean Edge 6 at a local shop, I'd urge you to give it a try. New they should be on the low end of your price range and I think they are the bees knees. I had an Edge 5 that was very sweet.

That being said, I really enjoyed the time I spent playing a Spector Legend Classic 6. Very comfortable basses all around.

Another vote for the Soundgear. I've had my Soundgear 6 since '94 or so, and it sounds great live or in the studio. Mind you, it's heavier than they make them nowadays. I remember lugging my Soundgear 10 miles uphill both ways through 12 feet of snow to get to gigs and back. So yeah, I've had mine a while and I still love it.

I concur, an Ibanez Soundgear was my choice when I made the plunge a few years back. I bought an SR506 at the time, It's a very nice bass for the price.
