7.5 inch neck radius!

Eupharies,

Man it dont much have to do with the block of wood, its how you position your hand.

Use a "modern" position which places your knuckles parallel to the fretboard. Imagine a line drawn across your knuckles and sticking out beyond them. When your fretting hand is on the neck that imaginary line should be PARALLEL to the edge of the fretboard.

With your hand in this position, you can see that your fingers will have a greater mechanical advantage, and greater reach.

This is especially true if you move beyond 4 strings.

Most players have that imaginary line pointing at a 30 degree angle to the fretboard.

I requires me to tuck my arm in closer to my ribs to get that kind of angle, and it was somewhat painful at first, but even at the young age of 47, I adapted well.

If you're doing that already, I might suggest a flatter radius will work better, 10-12" instead of 9 or 7. Smaller the number, the more curvature to the board.

ok cool :) yeh it did seem easier on an 11 inch, i think ill get the stingray SLO,

And yeh i get what your saying about the angle, i definetly dont play parallel, its more at an angle, i will try and adapt, ive only been playing 2 years so i shouldnt have a problem adapting :)
