8 or 12 track tascam for recording?

so some of you might remember that a friend of mine and myself are piecing together a band for a class, and we to buy the gear. we want to do a all in 1 work station for mixing, mastering, and burning to cd. we can't spend more then maybe $800 on this, so if anyone has an idea i would love to hear it.

I don't know what 8 or 12 track tascam you are looking at.

There is always used equipment. But of course you take the risk of getting someone else's problem.

If I was buying new, for my money, if all I had was up to $800, I would get Invalid Link Removed

But then if you are comfortable with computer recording you might get Invalid Link Removed or Invalid Link Removed.

But whatever you do always get as many tracks as possible.

Do you have any experience recording? That might be good info to help advise you.
