Double Bass 8ohm replacement for Ampeg PB112

I am trying to find a reasonable priced (in the $100 or less category) replacement speaker at 8ohm for my Ampeg PB 112 - which sounds good - but farts way early...

I have seen the Emminence kappa pro and delta lites seen used here amongst these forums' pages - but I know little about speaker/ cabinet interaction ...

I have learned that apparently the crossover etc. with the piezo (?) tweeter should not be affected - so I would love some thoughts of what 12" to put into my cab.

The Eminence Basslite S2012 is an 8-ohm, 12-inch neodymium bass-instrument speaker, which sells for a little less than $100.

I owned one. Very light and good sounding. Should work reasonably well as a replacement driver in your existing speaker enclosure.

Just make sure you aren't expecting too much from a single 12-inch speaker. A high-pass filter such as the fdeck HPF-Pre may help prevent the driver from farting out.
