A $9.99 control knob pulling tool...

OK, there are luthiers' outfits that sell bass guitar knob pullers for up to $80. ~But I know where you can get a good tool for this for $9.99... It's lower jaws slide right under knobs, and with just a slight squeeze and a little pulling the knob slides right up, undamaged!
Fender Mustang Club

So here's a photo of mine... I added some padding to the jaws (although it's probably not really necessary) by sticking on some small pieces cut from the soft sides of self-stick Velcro, and voila: ~a $9.99 bass control knob puller!

Didn't know about the spoon thing. It looks like it also works quite well. ~Thanks!
I'm glad I posted the thing about those pin pulling pliers, as I'm also getting some real good information in return. There are lot's of ways to remove a bass's knobs, I see...
But so far I've found using those pliers is the easiest method for my older, somewhat weaker hands, and I'm definitely not proposing them as the best way for anyone else. -It's just another way... ;)

Be careful prying up with the spoons. They dent wood real nice.

Shoelace/string/dishtowel pull method for me.

Yah.. That's definitely something to think about with spoons! ~And I think the several other small pry bar looking gizmos folks have shown here have too much metal too close to wood also. I still like my push-pin pliers best as you shouldn't hafta contact the wood when pulling up if you're careful and slow with it...
