to the ever helpful folks here..

1. Are there any general guidelines to be followed when deciding to bow at the frog, in the middle or tip?
2. When an upper mordent sign appears, is the immediate note to be followed dependant on the key as well? for example, if a piece is in key of Bb, then an upper mordent on a D note would mean going from note D to Eb?
3. Are there any videos / extracts where I can see the use of "col legno" please

1. There's plenty of things to think about. The quality of your sound, strokes, and articulations will differ depending on where in the bow you are. Practicing scales and rhythms in all parts of the bow will help more than anything.
