Fender, Squire, Yamaha, Ibanez, Wal, Washburn to start with. There are others, too. Metal is about attitude.

I've always thought it was more about pedals,strings and effects. You can set up any bass to play metal.

Fender? Really? I'e seen a metal bassist use a a pbass for metal before, except for Duff McKagan really... but he's more of a hard rock guy, not metal.

What kind of metal. That really does make the difference.
Really, you can't expect me to use the same bass for suicidal doom as for melodic hardcore can you?

And to be more precise, Duff McKagan uses PJ basses.
