Double Bass A K&K Bass Max, but better?

I have two pickups, the EAP for the lovers out there, and a K&K Bass Max for the super loud gigs and/or sound guys with no finesse. I don't have a blender. I love both for what they do in the appropriate context, but mostly I love that they are effortlessly removable.
However, with the K&K the E and A strings are super boss, yet as I make my way up the G side it get's lost. I don't know how much of that is a function of the pickup being where it is on the E side bridge wing, and/or a difference in string tension between the Velvet E and Dlugolecki G.
I tried a Full Circle before I went wooden bridge adjusters and it did the same thing, loud and strong on the E and A, weakness on the D and G. Maybe it's my bass, but I don't get that as much with the EAP or a mic for that matter. Just giving the benefit of the doubt.
Is there something out there I am missing that gets the same rough and tough volume and headroom across all 4 strings and is still easy to remove when needed? Or is there something I'm overlooking?

It could be that the soundpost is too close to the treble bridge foot.
I had a similar problem needing a two sided pickup, but after repositioning the soundpost more south that went away and the Full Circle and a single side bridge wing pickup worked fine.

hmmm interesting point you bring up there. There hasn't been a luthier in Vegas in years and i've had to set all my posts myself. Maybe I'll throw old Grace on the table to fiddle with her stick.

Late to the party, but try moving your Bass Max to the G side of your bridge. I had the same issue with my bass, and with the pickup on the G side, it's nice and even. I've used two different Bass Max pickups on two different basses (one carved, one ply), and in each circumstance the response was more even with the pickup on the G side.

Jim, I'll try that one next.
In the meantime I moved my soundpost south from the bridge foot. I was shocked to see where I had placed it, very very close. Now it's a soundpost diameter away, maybe little more. Haven't amped up yet to test the results but the bass feels looser in a good way. E is a little stronger than it used to be, a good feel to the bass overall acoustically.
Mostly, I'm proud of myself for adjusting the soundpost placement without it falling, AND I kept the grain orientation the same. yoohoo!

My soundpost is about an inch away from the bridge foot, edge to edge.
I think you will get a much better sound out of the Bassmax with the new position. (And probably also with the EAP...)

I have that issue as well when I tried the bassmax... low volume on the G-string..

Will having the Shadow two transducers ( so you have both wings of the bridge filled with the little pickups) will that solve it?? I'm thinking of buying a shadow.. dual winged one..
