a little help please

hey just a quick question, im going to buy an amp head of
300w at 4ohms i wanted to know if i could plug it into a 200w at 8ohms cab.. i think theres no problem with it but i just wanted to be sure.

thanks for the help fellow bass players!!

you can plug it in to that cab, but you'd be drawing half the power from the amp. In general:

300W at 4ohms means 150W at 8ohms.

A word of caution: you should be fine, but you want to make sure the amp can handle resistance of 8ohms.

ALL amps can handle loads higher than their rated wattage load. Any amp rated for X watts at 4 ohms can handle loads of 8 ohms, 16 ohms, 12 ohms, whatever. The higher the ohm load, the less stress and work it takes for that amp to operate. Lower ohm load ratings are what you must worry about.

You'll be perfectly fine. Go for it.
