A little love for the TL-5...or 6.

I just picked this TL-5 up from Keithpas here on TB and man, Im loving this thing. Brought a whole new enjoyment to my playing. Ive wanted a Cirrus for quite some time but never dropped the dime but I think Ive found one better. This things not as light and thin feeling as the Cirrus, more girth. Ask your girlfriends...its all about the girth. Diggin the TL-5. I know theyre rare on here but, if you got one, feel free to post her up here.

From what I have played so far, I don't think that they can be beat for the $$... and they can't be beat at all for much outside of that! The next runner up is the Dynabass. It has a way faster neck (less girth), but not quite as clear. I own both and will probably never sell either.

Both are VERY solid basses. I am always on the lookout for another TL5 (or Dyna5)... If the deal presents itself... it is a no-brainer as far as I am concerned.

But please, don't let the word out. The prices will go up and we will all lose out.

Yeah man, the Dyan 5 is smooth if you can get over the narrow string spacing. Fortunately I am a "chicken picker" guitar player in a previous life so I can!

I like the action on the TL5s and the piano like tone, so I have been gigging with that lately.... but I think that I may go back to the Dyna. I do know where a TL6 is for sale for $399 and have been debating it seriously...

You too, Kevin? It went for a bit over $300. I got caught up in something with my son and didn't get to bid. That had some serious potential.

Oh yeah, I was all over it, tried to bid at 400 in the last minute, would have only cost me 10 more than the highest bid, but give me headroom incase of a last minute run up. I am a trucker at a truck stop, using wi-fi, and just lost the connection. DAMN!!!!

We just have to keep the TL's alive. Give the "P" the respect it deserves. See you on the bay next time one shows up. lol

I need to know where the TL6 is...NOW!!!!! lol Been thinking about defretting my Conklin GT7, but would rather do the TL6.

As for the tight string spacing, and another very underrated bass. Have you ever played the early version of the Yamaha BB5000? 5 strings on a P bass neck? Owned one, have large fingers, and converted to fretless with a poly coating on the board. Makes the TL5 feel like a Conklin GT7 with the middle 5 strings removed. lol

Oh man... now I feel bad.

I was going to PM you the link, but it just sold! I promise that it was real... I have been tempted for the past 4 weeks on pulling the trigger, but I just moved to 5s and didn't want to be tempted to move "up" again!

It was the TL6 with dual Ps in a REAL nice burst. I was thinking about getting it this weekend (and hope the wife didn't notice).

As proof here is the expired CL link!

EDIT: Well you can't see the title... but it was there... I promise (either that or I gotta quit smoking orange Crayolas...).

Doh!

Here is a shot of my 3 TL-6's, pay no attention to the lesser basses in the photo! :D Well ok the green 6 and the Modulus go to the gigs, and i split the playing time about evenly between them. I also have 2 TL-5's that I need to get some shots of. you could say I am a fan. :hyper:

That is just cruel!!! You have three that you have to flaunt, and I have none. Anybody want to sell or trade a tl? LOL
