Over in the BG amp section folks are often encouraged to do some research in this forum whenever the topic turns to small, lightweight and accurate amplification. TB'er DonBox has been doing his reading and has come up with this summation:

Had I known that data going in, I would have never installed that damn FC in the first place.

My old slab rig (WWU + 2 VL110's) sounded great until I plugged in the DB with an FC...

Mostly, double bassists pine about how they want a ten pound rig that doubles as a music stand and sounds like mid-1990's Walter Woods ultra through a EA VL 208 and will stand up to some guy named Uncle Toad.

This is insightful and frightening all at the same time.
