A random question

Hey everyone, a random thought occurred to me this morning. String windings are always towards the direction of the ball, does anyone know if there's a reason for this, and if it would make any difference if they were wound in the other direction? TIA

Are you sure about that? I've always thought the winding started at the ball end and went the other way. Just my random thought...

This is correct.

Exceptions would be exposed core strings, or Pressurewound.

Another exception would be if you're south of the equator.
