One of the greatest icons of WING Series basses for the Washburn basses during their "vintage years is the 1981 SB-40, an active bass requiring two 9V batts. Been searching for a llooooonnnggg time to find ANY advertisement, magazine review, etc on them. Ads would have started in late-ish 1980 (when I bought mine). Anyway, I swear I'd give anyone $50 for an ad or mag review in my historical pursuit. Here is a pic one of my own SB-40's. In 1982 they came out with the SB-40EQ--virtually the same bass. They were so good that for the next 3 more years Washburn kept the electronics going in most models.
So the SB's were only 1981 and then 1982, both with the model name on the truss rod cover and being Wing series with 2x2 tuner arrangement. They both have, as you see in my pic, 3 pots, a toggle ad a mini-switch. Sometimes an SB-40 truss rod cover would be put on a B-40 which has the Vulture elec package of toggle and 4 pots.... a factory error which fools the owner into thinking he has a rare SB model.
Anyway--there it is---$50 waiting to be collected.
