A Short Scale Story

I got my first bass in 1968; a 1965 Gibson EBO. Played it in garage bands and in jazz band in high school. In the 70's it didn't have a "modern" tone, so I added a bridge pickup.
In 1982 I picked up a '76 4001 and played it exclusively until last year when I got a Dean Razor NT5. Between the Ric and the Fiver, I got a lot of different tones.
To shorten the story, I pulled out the EBO, dusted it off, tightened the truss rod a touch and carried it to rehearsal this week.
I remember calling it my Gibson Mud Bass... It produces real BASS tone! Especially with 30 year old strings! Works great for the old school stuff, really round on Black Magic Woman. It took me back 40 plus years to be playing it with a band! Time Warp for sure.

Anyway, the boys in the band liked it and want me to bring it to our gig Sunday at a winery grape stomp.

I guess I could probably use some new strings someday:D

Cheers!
