A "talkbass" for guitars?

Hi All,

Forgive my ignorance. I am looking into getting a g..g..g..guitar* and was wondering if there is a site like talkbass for guitars. I assume yes but don't know what the "best" one is.

Any advice?

Thanks!

*don't worry, I am getting a 4-string tenor guitar (I learned how to play tenor banjo in Ireland and want to keep it up but with a guitar). So it's like a mini bass tuned weird.

I haven't found one yet. There are a large number of forums for specific guitar types, though, there's a tele forum that's pretty decently run, for example. I'll check my bookmarks...

People ask this from time to time, and the answer is no, there isn't. There was an attempt at a talkguitar for a while but it didn't take off. Maybe it's just because there are too many guitarists to make a cohesive forum work. The nearest equivalents are the ones devoted to a particular brand or style of guitar, like tdpri.

i used to post over at ultimateguitar. i don't find the general commentariat there to be as well informed and truly helpful as they were here at TB.

if you were interested in acoustic guitar, you could check out acousticguitarforum (also known as AGF) and the unofficial martin forum, but it took 2 months for them to approve my account there and just never gelled with them for some reason.

Surprised that the MyLesPaul forum hasn't come up.

During the time my bass rig was lost to pawn I spent a lot of time on there and thought it was good. Tpdri is a good spot too. Haven't been anywhere else or even on these lately since I got my bass rig back. I'm a pretty crap guitarist and if I'm going to be gigging it'll be on bass lol.

I used to go on ultimate-guitar for anything other than the odd tab, and then I turned 17. Honestly, couldn't tell you how the forums are anymore.
