The sleeve is very good. It’s a sort of sandwich construction without sidewalls, but your bass will be very snug indeed. The pocket is large, perhaps the largest on any Mono bag. From what I hear, the pocket is the Gigblade’s weak spot. Not because of the size, but, because of minimal padding. The Mono sleeve is lightweight and convenient, can go anywhere, and protects your bass well. The weakness of the Sleeve is that the construction presses on the tuners a bit, so your bass may be slightly out of tune when you take it out. Since I tune my bass every time I take it somewhere, that has never been a problem for me, but YMM, as always, V.

Surely they’re mounted in just about the same place as on any other gig bag (except the Gruvgear GigBlade)? In fact, I don’t see how they could reasonably be mounted any higher and still sit relatively comfortably on your shoulders. Besides, if they were mounted any higher, the bottom of the bag would smack against the back of the legs of most people, unless they were very tall.

They smack against my legs if they're too high, and my butt if they're too low. Either way, they're going to smack against something. I'd rather they smack something and not make me feel like Herman Munster :D

Fair enough - but I still can’t see how it would be a particular problem with Mono, as every other gig bag I’ve owned that allow you to carry your bass backpack-style has had the straps mounted in more or less the same place. Bags of a similar design but with the straps mounted significantly higher would be the exception rather than the rule.

Don't think I don't know that and don't think it doesn't irritate me to no end :D

I would never use the backpack option but I'm the exception since most of the good gig bags have straps set up this way.
I like the Mono but it does make your bass sit up high when carrying on just one shoulder.
I've learned to duck under door jambs...

The important question is do you laugh like Herman Munster? Need a sound clip with no compression or it didn't happen.

I feel my RB Continental is a top drawer gig bag, and likely much akin to the Mono.

Bought a Gator ES-335 guitar gig bag for my short scale semi-hollowbody. Out of the box, the shoulder straps were much too high and the bag didn't sit well on my body. Opened up the length on the shoulder straps. Took a selfie in the mirror of my rear and asked: does this gig bag make my butt look big? Why, yes, it does.

I find the Gator to be a perfectly acceptable gig bag for its intended purpose. It's a great deal "floppier" than the Reunion Blues. I probably would have bought another RB or a Mono for the semi-hollowbody but the Gator is the only one that is sized correctly.

For 'last in constant use' and light weight (relatively) with pretty good protection I suggest you check Levy's leather bass bag. Several carry options are nice, pockets are perhaps a weak point. I've been using them for years and am very satisfied.
