About Lane Poor pickups

Hello, I'm interested in any information regarding the Lane Poor MM4. I would like to try to reproduce it but I don't have much info about it. All I know is that it uses ceramic magnets and it's low output. Can someone who has it measure the exact resistance separate on each coil and then both together, or know the impedance, the wire gauge used... any info would be appreciated.
It is sounds a little bit weird :), but I like to try

I spoke with one of Lane's former employees when I bought his last MM4 he had stashed some years ago.

I can't remember his name, but he was a very cool, and informative guy. If I wasn't such an electronics idiot, I could probably be more helpful but.....

He explained that a low number of windings is what gives it the low output, and as a result the airy high end that is the signature lane poor sound.

Modulus logo you could probably get $400-$500 for one. LP logo mid $300s or more.

I actually sold an MM5 for $550 last year. I wasn't asking for that. I was offered that and took it. Have only seen one since.

You could get a duplicate from APC repair (minus the logo) for under $300 (Im not sure what he set his price at but I am pretty sure it is well under $300.

I just corrected the bad web address I put above

www.guitardr.com

Also just so you know you aren't going to get any info about how to duplicate them. He is already wary of that. All I know is that building the pickup took something like 96 steps and a special design. Since he worked in the shop itself and specifically pushed Lane to release a musicman replacement he knows the details, which he won't share. He will sell you a pickup though. I have a comparison thread with soundclips here on TB somewhere.

Ahh yes, he is the same guy that I spoke with a few years back who sold me his last mm4. Good dude, and I really enjoyed chatting with him.

I will likely have both a used MM4 with LP logo, and one with the Modulus logo for sale in the near future since they fetch that kind of dough. I really like em, but not that much!

I know it is reproduced but, it's not the same pup. He claims that he wanted to put more output from and that affects the sound though. I sent him mail about how much it's going to cost me a copy, he said $200 what is not too expensive but it's not the same pup too.
So I want to try to reproduce it and I'm collecting any info about it.
Are those reproduced pups with the Modulus logo? If so, I've heard them and there is very noticeable difference in the sound they produce compared to the original. Original are much clearer and brighter, anyway APC are nice sounding but not what I'm looking for.
If course he wouldn't share the info about the pup, that's why I'm asking someone to measure the coils, as refers to inductance that's a bit hard to measure, but if someone can and know how it would be very helpful. Low number of turns - low output of course, but how many original MM4 LP has in each coil?
Tim Cole mentioned maybe could have and sell the original MM4 with LP logo, so how much you will ask for it?

WarriorJoe7, you seem to have knowledge about originals and sure you have one, can you measure the coils and get as much info as possible, if you want of course? Or maybe you know what wire gauge is used and number of turns, the magnets used, shape, grade or anything?

Well WarriorJoe7, if you say that you can measure the coils please do, I would appreciate that vary much. I know that there is to concern the wire gauge too, but I'll try with something to see what would I get.

If you can measure both coils separately, and then both together in the way they are connected together. Thank you in advance, I'm looking for this a long time ago.

And do you happened to know the wire gauge or not?

People, don't get me wrong, I don't want to complain but here in Macedonia we have monthly earnings of near 120-180 euros ant that is $200-250. Because of that I can't afford to by a pickup that costs two times more than our earnings. Besides that I'm not employed. I would be happy if I could by a whole bass for that money. And I don't plan to mass product and sell the pickup just want to build one for me, for my own needs usage.
So If you want to help me, help me. If not I'm not forcing to, I'm just asking.
Thank you for understanding.
