Absolute cheapest bass blank

I'm looking for a very cheap bass to super mod. I do not care for hardware or electronics as I plan to replace them all anyway. I don't care if it's a separate body and neck to attach myself. I think I'll put a single coil p bass pickup with no knobs in it.

I'd check ebay for Eden bodies. They're Korean made Fender copies as far as I can tell. I got a swamp ash strat body on there for about $46.

The Squier will be cheap and there are many Fender parts that fit without modification. Just make sure you get one with a good neck and functioning truss rod. Abused Squiers are available for as low as $50.00
