Acoustic 370?

Hello!

I have an Acoustic 370 head that I know nothing about. Are these any good? I have no working cab to test it through so I wouldn't really know. The volume pot is a bit crappy and I think one of the inputs has a bad connection but I suppose these things are easily fixed I believe. Some nice Neutrik jacks for the inputs and a pot with the same value (should be easy to find, right?) should do the trick.

Can anyone tell me about this neat little thing?

They are cool old amps; I have one; vintage tone but not all that pwoerful by todays standards.
I would clean the volume pot and input jack with a nice gentle contact cleaner like Cramolin red before I started changing parts.

It's powerful enough for rehearsing with my band, that much I know (I'm a drummer primarily... and I hit hard). And it definately is powerful enough for recording so I think it suits my needs perfectly actually. Just need to get some cab for it.

Any tips for decent but cheap cabs suitable for recording? It's not like I need tons of sub bass since I get that from the DI.

The low wattage may make it appear low powered but mated with the proper cabinet and this thing will shake the planet like no other. Also, it may need servicing. These amps were built like tanks but age and use/abuse may have taken their toll. A good tech can work wonders on these and get it back up to spec, if it's not delivering. Best tip for these ever-
Stick a dummy jack (I use a phone jack) in the 2nd input-
It raises the volume (for reasons I can't remember)-

It also is totally happy w/ a 2 ohm load, and is much louder-

I run mine through an Ampeg 1540 (4-10", 1-15" split cab)
along w/ a Mesa 400+ through a 8-10" together for shows,
and only though one or the other for practice -
My drummer prefers me using the 370 rig because he swears
it creates a subsonic sound he can feel in his spine & lock in
with me better-
