Double Bass Acoustic Guitar amp for db

Hello-

I was wondering if I could buy a good quality 30w acoustic guitar amp and use it for low volume situations for boosting my fishmann equipped upright. Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

The amp I am looking at is a $200 ultrasound acoustic amp from Musiciansfriend.com

Generally not a good idea, as guitar amps don't have the power and can't handle the lower frequencies of a bass (electric or acoustic). However, I don't know anything about that particular amp, and if you're talking REALLY low volumes, it *might* not ruin the amp.

I'd say if it's a matter of budget, and you have a guitar amp already and can't throw down the bread for a new bass amp, then I could understand that. But if you're buying a new amp anyway, why not just buy a bass amp? You can use that with a guitar (or a keyboard, or vocals or just about anything), but it doesn't really work the other way around.
