Double Bass Acoustic Image Doubleshot Buzz

Last year I had an issue pop with my Doubleshot cabinet that I can’t seem to get fixed. The forward facing 5 inch driver developed a nasty buzz. Since Acoustic Image is no more, I have taken it to two amp techs and they have had no luck solving the issue. One tech even replaced it and had no luck stopping the buzz. Has anyone had this same issue pop up on their Doubleshots and has anyone had success fixing it? I’m getting close to just giving up and trying to get rid of it and get a new cab. Luckily my Clarus head is still rocking.

If you’re feeling ambitious and have nothing to lose, take the cab apart and see if there isn’t a loose solder joint somewhere that’s causing a resonant frequency buzz. I spent a week in a Coda R S3 - even modified the housing to retrofit some new drivers …before discovering something like this in the crossover at the very top of the cab. Unfortunately I had trashed the cab in the process. Go slow and don’t strip screws if you can avoid it, lol. I’m much happier with that amp on my Barefaced one10 and/or acme b1 at the end of the day, though. Good luck!

Air leak around the driver gaskets could be another possible cause. And it can be hard to pinpoint where a buzz is coming from. I've had some luck putting my ear right next to something, but only after I've made darn sure I won't damage my hearing. Just pushing on the flange of the driver and working your way around might uncover it.

And if it's a foam surround driver, check the integrity of the foam.

Watching this as my Coda cabinet developed a buzz and I spent a lot of time trying to track it down with no luck. I finally just bought a Genz-Benz 1 12 Neo and have never looked back. It just seems a waste as it sits in my music room laughing at me.
