Acrylic bass from Ali Express

I think that is really cool! I am so surprised people still think of Chinese products as junk. Many of the Chinese factories are fully automated CNC and making terrific products. Look at the incredible basses from Glarry selling for $100! Delivered!

Maybe the brand name instrument companies have simply been making enormous profits off us for 50 years?

Actually, my Crafted In China Classic Vibe is a very good Jazz bass, better than the half dozen Fenders I've owned, and many people here have no problem with Chinese basses.
AliExpress, however, has proven to be less than reputable.
Do they sell good basses?
I'm guessing they sell some, but the junk they've sold in the past is hard to ignore.
Hey, I gamble al the time...eleven basses, all but one bought online without having the opportunity to try first.
The thing is, there's a big difference between a smart bet and a foolish bet.

I had a Dan Armstrong back in the 70s and now have a Serek Lucite Lincoln. Yep...they have some weight to them. But with the right strap the Serek is just fine. And it sounds way better than the Dan Armstrong to me. Jake makes a mean pickup. With that said....that one yur thinking bout has no cool style about it. And who knows what you're gonna get with hardware and pickups. Good luck and enjoy!

It is modelled after that Gretsch model you can see in the picture above.

Plus one’s excitement at the music or venue or crowd could be discernable. Depending on your career goals you might wish this view be readily available. You see the bassists with more modesty already own what they choose. For anyone into a new vision, play on words, this may be the ticket. :)

That other group who wear their basses higher for ergonomic reasons have decided the risk is worth it, for them, to play better. :)

how bizarre the answers criticizing the fact that it is transparent arcylic... one of the greatest basses I ever had the good fortune to be loaned for a long period for my use in a tour was an original Ampeg Dan Armstrong plexiglass bass. Not much different from this in appearance, other than it having a more traditional body shape.

Looks EXACTLY like the one I played in 1986 for a few months that I was loaned by a friend. Loved that bass, miss it terribly!

It'll be a good weight but the acrylic body will counter any potential neck dive :thumbsup:

As far as ordering from Ali-Express or Chinese basses in general, I've plenty experience of both; all positive :cool:

Only thing holding me back from ordering is the shipping, it's outrageous. End of 2021 shipping a container from China to Europe cost around €18000, March 2023 it was down to €900.

No one seriously criticizing the fact that it's acrylic, just the expected quality.
