actual wattage

Peavey's never been a company to lie about specs. I see no reason to believe it's not a 200w amp judging from their good track record. The psycho-acoustics thing, though...that is a bit of a red flag. Still, maybe when Bobby's done rocking in the new year, he can clarify.

Peavey's web site shows both amps - WITH IDENTICAL NAMES :spit: The specs on the first Max 112 are 35 W RMS while the spec for the new Max 112-II just says "200W" so it's almost certainly a peak rating i.e the RMS rating would be half, or even less.

It's specked 200 watts continuous into 8 ohm (in the manual). So it's not a peak rating.

***? Why would anyone buy the 35 watt version for the same weight, and schlep when they could have the 200 watt version.
BTW I had a PEavey Max 15 inch combo for a while, ended up returning it, was nto thrilled, didn't have the classic Peavey sound at all! Was hoping it would sound like the classic Peavey TNT and it did not. Not one BIT.Just be aware.

I have one of the 200Watt 12" versions, I would say by ear clean watts are about 125 or so, if it puts out 200 it is a Flat distorted sine wave
BUT it is a perfect everything amp, I mean it is great for rehearsal, but will easily handle small live gigs, if your Drummer knows how to play and isn't just Balls to the walls thinking he sounds good!
It will even do BIG concerts if you line out through a decent PA.
I have been playing through a Trace Elliott combo amp with one internal and an ext 15" so it was pushing 300 watts at 4 ohms. I got sick of lugging it around and decided to be smart and let our 2000 watt PA do the work..
In my opinion it is well worth the money. I have been playing since the mid 70's and have run through just about everything.
This amp kicks the crap out of the Peavey combo 300 I used to have with 1 15" BW..... I know this is an older post BUT....
