I was recently brought to light on the amazing world of delay on a bass...I got to try an AD9 for a good hour and I was blown away by how amazing it tracked and basically to over all sound...

My problem comes at this...I love the sound of this thing, but my buddy is willing to give me his DL4 if I buy him the AD9...I unfortunately won't be able to test the DL4 as much as I want to, or at all, because I simply won't have the time...and he wants to trade to me or Ebay it so he can just buy it(silly impatient guitarist :bassist:)...

How does the analog delay, and the other setting for that matter, compare to the truly analog sound of the AD9?

    Thanx

If you only need one simple delay and not the looper and stuff in the DL4 then keep the AD9. It's one of the best sounding analog delays ever.

But if you want alot of really cool emulations of famous pedals, something like 15 or so, then get the dl-4 because its pretty sick. Its got 3 stomp settings so you can make your own presets for 3 and keep them right there at your feet, i thought that was pretty cool.

  4. I love my AD9. Only 2 things I'd swap it for... a Maxon AD-9 Pro or maybe a Maxon AD-999

I got a chance to breifly try the dl4 today...nice but one problem...how do i power the thing?

it needs 9v @ 1200amps...my 1spot chain only puts out 9v @ 200amps...is that safe with an adapter?

my only other concern with it is the face that I will literally have to "learn" how to use it...there is a lot of stuff on there...most of whit i may never use...

for the 1 spot you can buy an adapter i think its called L6?

And as far as the AD9 and the DL4

I went for the DL4 because you're able to store three different effects
The AD9 while it sounds great only offers (to me) a small delay range

I prefer the range of delay repeats and such on the DL4

    -just more customizable

To me the DL4 still sounds really good..that could just be me though

i thought i wouldn't use a lot of it..but now a reverse setting is on one of the 3 presets
    never thought i'd use that..but i am

you'll find uses for a majority of it

and check your mates DL4 sometimes if you accidentally step on the knobs they will be pressed down and that can really mess up the pots since they are soldered directly to the board
