Adam-12

Troup was married to "Dixie" Julie London who was a heck of a jazz singer.
Even though she was my mother’s age(roughly), I had impure thoughts about Julie London. Forget Jayne Mansfield, she is the reason I watch “The Girl Can’t Help It” with the Cry Me A River segment. Plus you get Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, and Gene Vincent:D. Her pin-up girl album covers must have been hot stuff for the 50’s. This sums it all up...

The only misstep she made musically might have been this...

but if you have a dirty mind...

I want Baretta back.

Interesting Adam 12 thing... notice how thick the smog was back then before all the emissions laws were put into place.

I agree, Joe.

Another reason to bring back Baretta, is that Tom Scott and the L.A Express did the music for that show.

The bass player, Max Bennett was one of my heroes.

Mike

I think I wore out two copies of that record and now have the CD, one of my all time favs :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Max was bad ass

Always like finding a Max Bennett fan!

Although I knew about him as a kid, this is the song, by Joni Mitchell that made me a life-long fan.

Listen to how tasty, yet simple his bass line is.

The entire song is good, but if you want to go right to the Jazz part, go to 3:30.

Try to listen to this through good speakers.

Dr. Joe Early was none other than Mr. Bobby Troup, composer of the Iconic Route 66 tune, covered by everyone and his cousin

Route 66 the tv show (no relation to the song. Henry Mancini did the theme) starred Martin Milner, later of Adam-12 fame. Along with George Maharis and later, Glenn Corbett. The premise was kind of silly, two broke guys traveling the country doing odd jobs, each season in a newer Corvette.

Nelson Riddle, Sinatra’s arranger, and composer of the Batman theme, wrote the 66 TV show theme. The premise was a very cleaned up, safe for public consumption version of Kerouac’s “On The Road”.

This black and white patrol car has an overhead valve V8 engine. It develops 325 horsepower at 4800 RPM's. It accelerates from 0 to 60 in seven seconds; it has a top speed of 120 miles an hour. It's equipped with a multi channeled DFE radio and an electronic siren capable of admitting three variables, wail, yelp, and alert. It also serves as an outside radio speaker and public address system. The automobile has two shotgun racks, one attached to the bottom portion of the front seat, one in the vehicle trunk.

so, is it the new blues mobile or what?

This is true. In my defense, I did this from memory and I was around six when the show aired. Mancini did my favorite theme song...
