Is it possible to add an active/passive switch to a 2006 Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V? The 2019 version has the switch. I prefer to play in passive mode. Thanks.

It all depends on how the preamp is constructed. You can add an AP switch to about 98% of the preamps out there, save for those that have pots hard-soldered to circuit boards, like the current Music Man preamps and aftermarket units like Audere.

With that era, you can't do A/P without massive changes to the stock preamp.
Here's what they look like out of the bass:
Trust me when I tell you, as I've done this many times on these basses: It's easier and more effective to just get a new preamp in there that has bypass.
EDIT: You said you like it passive anyway, so you can just put a passive control setup in the bass, that is also an option.

Although an easy fix would have been the best answer (LOL), this is exactly the information I was looking for. The question was related to a potential purpose. My best option will be to look for a passive version of the same bass. There are plenty of them out there. Thanks!
