Advice needed for adding Darkstar to Artcore bass

I've never swapped pickups before, and I know nothing really about the electronics in a bass. I'm looking for a little education-- I have an Ibanez Artcore that I like, but am not quite satisfied with the tone. I played on a Dearmond Starfire with Darkstar Pickup, and really was impressed. I'd like to get one for my Artcore.

It has 2 humbuckers. Must I get a set of Darkstars to replace them both? I play close to the neck only, and would change out the neck pickup only, unless thats a no-no for some reason. Thanks y'all, and anything else I might need to know about this is appreciated too.

Edit: I see they have several different sizing options, does anyone knows which I'd need?

You could do just one, but the DS will probably be a lot louder than the stock pickup. If all you use is the neck pickup, this shouldn't be a problem.

Ask Fred about which one would be more appropriate size wise. Or take a ruler and measure your bass and see which one fits his listed specs.

I have one of the older (ASB 140) ArtCore single pickup, 34" scale basses. I bought it with the DarkStar already installed. I can assure you the DS will be louder than the stock pickups and have a lot more character, too. Good Luck!
