Advice on cabd

I play both electric and double bass, jazz and classical mostly. I
Bought a Mesa D800 and 1x15 cab a few years ago but have rarely used, use my AI contra mostly. The contra is getting old, I need a backup but I not happy with the sound I get from the mesa, am looking at selling it and considering either mark bass mini combo or eich combo, portability, small size and light weight with 300 watts rms or more are primary factors. Soliciting thoughts, advice, etc I am not interested in Fender or some of the other more commercial type amps. I played a mark bass combo at a jam last week and saw Tito Puente, Jr's bassist play one last night, sounded good, fat and talked to him briefly afterward he said he really liked mark bass, a good endorsement. Thanks in advance, by the way, I tried to change my username here to my real name but to no avail.

Check out Phil Jones Bass.
In your scenario (playing double and electric, I am assuming amplified double) I would buy: P: BG-400 Suitcase Compact | Phil Jones Bass or P: BG-450 Suitcase Compact Plus | Phil Jones Bass (choice between the two would depend on if you want two channels or not)
Maybe add an extension cabinet if you need more output: Products – Cabinets -C4 | Phil Jones Bass

You might consider Audiokenesis cabs. Light and several of the lines look to be good for both electric and double bass like this one:

Sounds to me like you don't want carry/transport much but there is always a tradeoff in downsizing.You would be hard pressed to find better quality/sounding cabs than Mesa.Would you be better off with some good earbuds for monitors and a preamp.And if the deal with Tommy Sparks falls thru I'll give you $200 for your rig.LOL

I stand corrected I used Mesa 1x15v cab at rehearsal been using old SWR neo cab, Mesas 1 15 has completely different sound, actually great sound. Guess I'll just have to deal with the bulkiness, looking at dollys now, rather have a combo but this is a fine amp

Are you talking about the Subway 115 or the Powerhouse 115 cabinet?

Not clear to me which you are using. Very different cabinets.

Ok, that's about as small of a 115 as you are going to find, and most neutrally voiced too.
