advice on modifying a Harley benton BZ-4000 NT

I just ordered a Harley Benton BZ-4000 NT. It looks very cool and I figured for that price I could upgrade just about everything... has anyone every upgraded the pickups, preamp or tuners on one of these?
Any advice from someone who may have already done this would be appreciated.

of course you can! but: it makes sense to me that you would play it for a hot minute or two before making any changes. i would think that you need to make an informed assessment of its overall playability and how well it takes the setup that you need. once you have an idea of the axe's status as a 'keeper' (or not!) you'll have a better idea of what to replace (if anything) and when to replace, e.g., replacing the tuning machines for "looks" might be something you want to do soon, but if you need lightweights to help with neck dive you may need to shop around, or you may need to save some money, etc. setting it up and playing it will give some notion of which parts 'need some help' via replacement.

bottom line: play it first, make some judgements, and then go for your customization. that's my advice! good luck!

almost all the reviews I have seen have panned the tuners.. So I am 99% they are going... I was thinking this bass would be really cool with EMG 35DC's... Of course I will play it when i get it.. but I really bought it for the looks.
